One, Two, Three
Just in time for St. Patrick's Day, the latest crop of monarch caterpillars in My Florida Backyard have wriggled their way into shimmering green chrysalises, after eating every single leaf of milkweed available. (Seriously, the plants are completely stripped!) They've chosen all kinds of odd places, including three of them on this fennel plant. Can you spot them all?

ReplyDeleteI always love seeing these chrysalis. They are so pretty with the gold bands. Then it's neat seeing them become transparent so that you can see the butterfly inside.

The places they choose for the chrysalises are amazing. We've had them hanging from the soffit (long trip up for them) and from the lip of pots in the yard. Watching them come out from the chrysalis is something everyone should see.
